The addition of wire EDM to our Sinker EDM capabilities completes the list of many machining solutions that we currently offer customers. We have machined complex 3D shapes with angles up to 45 degrees within a maximum work envelope of 23.6" x 15.7" x 16.2" using wire sizes of .oo8"-.012" and positioning accuracy of +.0001". Our EDM department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
EDMs are typically used in tool and dye production but have many other applications in the aerospace and medical industries. Wire EDMs are ideal for machining magazine wells, breeches and other intricate firearm parts. EDMs are also used in making form tools for wood and plastics production. Benefits of EDM machining include the ability to machine hard materials that are difficult to machine using traditional techniques. We typically machine pre-hardened materials without having to soften and then reharden. Materials conducive to EDM machining are any electrically conductive metals including Tool Steel (A2, D2, O1, etc.), Aluminum, stainless steel, hastelloy, monel and inconel.
Solid models in addition to dimensioned drawings are preferred for accurate quoting.
